Newburgh Clean Water Project, Food & Water Watch, and friends were proud to collect 500 local signatures in opposition to the reopening of the 550 MW fracked gas Danskammer Plant in Newburgh, NY. These signatures were delivered directly to Sean Patrick Maloney's office on June 28, 2019.
The Danskammer Plant poses significant risks to our community's air and water quality, strains regional water supplies and worsens our climate crisis by burning dirty fossil fuels, (in opposition to NY State's commitment to renewables). Our already stressed environment can't take another 44,000,000 lbs of pollution every year, for the next half-century. Thanks to the spirited crowd that came out and gave voice to this cause!
